Who is Henry ?
One of our rooms, located on the ground floor, bears the name of Henry, paternal grandfather of the owner.
This literary soul embraced his military career after earning a degree at the Ecole Polytechnique (class of 1901). The Paris of the turn of the century, he recounts in his memoirs, was still "the elegant Paris of carriages that swarmed to the Champs-Elysees and the Bois de Boulogne every afternoon (...) The restlessness of traveling by motorcar had not yet become commonplace and it took more than an hour by horse tram to go from Saint-Sulpice to Auteuil.
A colonel in the artillery and a good horseman, this great lover of numismatics also liked to work wood in his spare time. The carved panels adorning the paneling of "Chambre d’Henry" are his work. You will also find his cap. Look carefully at the big picture above the bed: he’s the groom!
